2022 Summer Programs
Summer Freshman Academy
The Summer Freshman Academy Program is designed to help incoming freshmen make a successful transition to high school by preparing them to handle the rigorous academic and social-emotional challenges of high school. Student participants will develop the skills needed to recognize and manage their emotions, form positive relationships, communicate well with others, set and accomplish goals, persevere through obstacles and setbacks, organize their daily lives, resolve conflict appropriately and make responsible decisions. Available to incoming Freshmen only.
Students will attend Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to – 1:00 p.m.
Location: East Chicago Central High School
Seating is limited up to (40) students
Participants who successfully attend and complete the course will receive (1) credit towards their diploma. Attendance is mandatory to receive the credit.
Transportation to and from will be available
Summer Enrichment Program
Communities In Schools of Lake County is pleased to inform you about our Summer Enrichment Program that is available for your child’s participation. Students participating within the program will engage in a variety of activities and projects. Students will be exposed to S.T.E.M related lessons and have a hands-on class experience, assembling and building structures while problem-solving and working on critical thinking skills. Students enrolled in the program will also participate in extracurricular activities, work collectively with peers in character development group projects and discussions and more. Lastly, students will be taken on field trips every Friday for the duration of the summer program. Additional information is below. We hope to see your child this summer!! Register as soon as possible. Space is limited to the first 35 students.
