8th Hour: Credit Bearing Courses
Freshman Academy
The Freshman Academy Program is designed to help freshmen make a successful transition to high school by preparing them to handle the rigorous academic and social-emotional challenges of high school. Student participants will develop the skills needed to recognize and manage their emotions, form positive relationships, communicate well with others, set and accomplish goals, persevere through obstacles and setbacks, organize their daily lives, resolve conflict appropriately and make responsible decisions. Available to Freshmen only.
Students will attend Monday-Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to – 4:15 p.m.
Seating is limited (25) per semester.
Participants who successfully attend and complete the course will receive (1) credit towards their diploma.
Please be advised that this class may be in-person, virtual, or hybrid format as we monitor and follow COVID19 guidelines.
Attendance is mandatory to receive credit.
Integrated Math
If your child needs additional help in their academic performances in regards to math curricula, then this course is available for you. Areas of math covered are subject but not limited to Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. Available to Sophomore, Juniors, and Seniors. Freshmen may be considered based on enrollment.

Life Skills
Middle School and Elementary Programs in East Chicago, IN
Youth P.L.U.S
If your child attends Washington Elementary, McKinley Elementary, and Block Jr High School and is in need of academic assistance, we highly encourage you to register your child for this after school program. Students receive academic help in various subjects as needed, as well as participate in enrichment activities such as art, dance, STEAM, robotics, and much more. If your child is enrolled in one of the elementary schools, it is open to grades 3rd-6th. For Block Jr High School it is open to both 7th and 8th-grade students. Please keep in mind, each site’s capacity is 25 students. This is first come first serve. Attendance is mandatory.
